5 Kids, warmer weather, kids being kids and adventurous! This is also a growing time for all of us. Two girls 11.5 years old!

Learning Disabilities are still there thus school, withadditional tutoring, lots of homework help, and teaching responsibility is helping us to take baby steps forward.

Our House

For over 4 years now we have been talking about adding on some rooms. Well, now is the time and our counsel says, “due to the price of wood on this side of the country and home renovations prices it is cheaper to tear down your 40 year old house and build a new one! What?! So where does a family of 7 live for a year? What?! Where do we put our stuff and our dog for a year? What?! Then the counsel says, “and only if you plan on living there for ten years and you will double your money!

Please please pray God gives us understanding as we have some major life & ministry issues to consider now, then just starting over.

Women’s Ministry

16-18 Sept. Women’s Retreat. Lori is organizing this weekend and nearly 90 women will be attending. This Weekend has the potential to be a huge blessing for so many families; as women retreat to hear the Lord speak and Husbands become full time fathers for the weekend. Please pray God breaks through everywhere He wants too. Pray for Lori as she has only 3 weeks to plan the menu, shop, organize, etc and that a team of ladies will rise up in most of these roles. Denise Glenn from www.motherwise.org will be the speaker for the weekend

Cookbook: Lori is organizing our first all church cookbook to be ready for our big celebration of our new church building on Nov. 5^th.

Missions Ministry

With Matthew given leadership over the missions ministry, we are very excited to have helped break our 4 years plus of no new missionary partnerships. We are now investing in a mature couple to continue their work globally, and two young missionary families preparing for their first terms in Indonesia and Mozambique.

Community Impact

Last April, Matthew communicated to a parent who was leading the big anniversary fair fundraiser for one of our local primary schools, but telling her we would not do our annual Easter Funtastic this year and instead we want to support them in having a successful fundraiser. Since it was on a Sunday he only promised items like table, chairs, and advertising to our church family. Some in our church helped in various ways included adding to their bake sale and organizing a few booths. The school made $25,000. Matthew found out later he was not supposed to let certain tables leave the building! We then found out the school was so appreciative of us they passed the word around. We now have another primary school and a Catholic school asking if we can help them! What shall we do?

Men’s Ministry

It often seems the typical men’s discipleship of weekly bible study is a difficult strategy to accomplish here. So we are taking advantage of opportunities where we can. Next week, a number of men said they would join me for BEmen. An annual weekend Men’s conference at a different church in town. They changed it this year to Friday night only! Now I have more men attending with me! God is so great!

In two weeks, #50 men have already signed up for our Men’s BreakFeast to be held in another man’s backyard. Guest speaker is David Glenn from the USA. He is passing thru on his way to Indonesia, India,…From Frustration to Freedom.

Please pray God impacts men’s lives thru these two events. I will seek to provide men next step opportunities after each: Fathering, Husbands, $ Management, Free from habitual sins…

Wow! What an exciting and tiresome first four months to 2011.

Yes, it has been that long since we have entered into our blog and certainly way over due. Let us boast on God a bit so you too can give thanks and maybe even smile like I am at the moment.

Women of Worth

We started off the year with promoting a One-Day Women’s Conference and a Men’s Advance Weekend.

In February, Lori secured their 2010 Getaway speaker for a one-day conference held at our church. It was open to the community and over 200 women spent a Saturday learning how to Fan the Flame of Faith! The American speaker had a team come and video record the conference for publication. This was a big success for our church, particularly in helping us to pursue excellence and saying “yes” to opportunities.

Men’s Advance!

Men don’t retreat they Advance! This was the call out to our men to participate in our first Men’s Advance Weekend in too many years. 70 + men responded. God drew us together as we were challenged to put His priorities in order in our whole life. Our fellowship was so authentic, we have witnessed many men connect deeper to one another into accountability groups. We have decided November 5-7 will be Men’s Advance Stage 2!Want to come?!

Small Groups Bursting!

Over the last several months we have seen many of our adult small groups expand to double digits and several leaders have asked for their group to be declared Full! We are in great need for others to step up and out in faith to being equipped to join a Small Group Leadership Team. This will be a major prayer and priority for us in the next 3-4 months.

Community Care

Rather than provide our Community-wide Funtastic event the weekend before Easter at a local primary school, we communicated our desire to support the school’s plan to hold a Fund Raising Fair (FETE). They were so surprised and relieved. We believe God opened the door of trust even wider to continue to partner with the school in bringing the presence of Christ Jesus to our community. We supplied some helpers, food, chairs and tables, and publicity. It was a great day and they made lots of money!

Easter Weekend

“Would you hear Him if He spoke?” This was the title for the 4700!invitations we placed in mailboxes in our neighbourhoods inviting people to our Easter Services. We thought if we had 2-3% response we would have standing room only.

On Thursday night we had the largest Communion service we have had on this special night of the year. A young man suddenly yelled and scream into the church and threw a few eggs at us and ran off. God used this disturbing event to cause us to reflect even more on Christ and those really being persecuted for their faith.

Then for the first time we offered two Good Friday morning services (typical Aussie culture) and the Lord brought 400+ people! Amazing time!

On Resurrection Sunday, we almost had standing room only but we set out even more chairs in the aisles. Not a good day for a fire marshal to visit. 600+ people! Then I was told we had about 1/3 of our own people out of town! WOW! God is incredible.We had some professions of faith and Morgan reaffirmed her faith in Jesus as her Saviour and Lord! What a great God we have!

Missions Ministry Team

We are finally on our way with a new strategy for global and national missions. Today we met with a young couple heading to Mozambique to help evangelize and plant churches among the Muslim-Animalist communities. Prayerfully, I hope we are also able to support missionaries to our Aboriginal communities, fanatical Muslims in Indonesia, and a national pastor in Eastern Europe.This will require our church leadership to let loose of the old way of funding and moving to a new way of funding. We would appreciate your prayers inthis.

BIG CHEERS...USA here we come!

Yes, that is right. After four years, we are finally able to return to the USA. May 16th the Munn tribe will arrive and will be furloughing in a State near you until our return to Australia the 13^th of June. We look forward to spending time with some family and friends and thanking our partners who have generously partnered with us for the last 4-7 years as we have sought to serve the Lord in missionary capacities. We hope to see you in a few weeks!

Small Groups Amazing changes to our small group experience is upon us. Pastor Colin has started preaching on the End Times and will continue this series for several months. We have disbursed more than 175 Bible Study Guides and offered 15 small groups to assist people in the study and discussion in the Doctrine of the End Times. You can join us! Evangelism - Please pray for the upcoming outreach events!

This Christmas Outreach will involve:

Christmas Lunch to be held in the park. Our church along side several other several other churches will be helping with this event. We expect to serve 1000 people who are lonely and have no family to celebrate Christmas with this year.

Sunday Brunch - Matthew is preaching Dec 19th & 26th. On the 26th immediately following the service will be a Sunday Brunch. This particular Sunday is filled with visitors/extended family visitor and those that normally would NOT attend church on any other Sunday.

Mail Box Drops - Last year we delivered 4,000 fliers into mailboxes of surrounding suburbs inviting them to various events for Christmas. We hope to increase that number this year!

Carols Sing Along at the public park in a community of 1500. This year we will give out take away bags along with the candy cane story.

Thank you so much for all your prayers for our WOW (Women of Worth) Retreat.

The retreat was held on the weekend of Sept 18th. Lori was praying for 70 ladies to attend and God exceeded those prayers and blessed her with 78 ladies in attendance! Lori's mom was able to join her again this year as she was in the area visiting! They had the priviledge of having speaker Denise Glenn for the weekend. She is from the USA but her husband was transferred here for 3 years for work. Well, their 3 years ends this March and then they will go back to their home state of Texas. BUT not before David Glenn (the husband!) speaks for the weekend at our Men's Advance (men don't retreat...they advance:). Their website is www.motherwise.org for those interested. They are international speakers and authors. All Glory and Praise to our Lord for a WOW of a weekend.

Ministry Happenings...

Ministry to Men has taken off in a new direction.

It was 8 months ago, I called a few men together to discuss our "Ministry to Men". Out of that birthed a man's event almost every month starting with a Sunday afternoon Cricket match, Father/Son and Mate fishing trip, Golf Outing, and a Meat on a Spit Social.

Cricket was a blast with 24 or so men involved . I understand the highlight was how hilarious it was for most to see a Baseball player take a baseball stance and hit a few long balls before the "bowler hit the wicket" (struck me out). I then waited my turn to throw some MunnHeat (pitch) as the bowler. Humbly, I will say I gained their respect. However, I still think we should use baseball gloves over open hand catching!

I enjoyed planning the "meat on a spit" too, as the men came together for a great feast of lamb and a butt of beef cooked-up rotisserie style by a team of South African men and an Aussie. There where plenty of side dishes as well! Sixty + men cultivated relationships and responded well to two men sharing how Jesus has impacted their lives.

Then just last week about 50 men showed up to an impromptu Saturday AM “Man’s Breakfast" with a South African Evangelist/Pastor sharing about men of faith from the Scriptures. I took the opportunity to recruit men to join in "Ministry to Men" by volunteering to help lead in organized activities they themselves are interested in. We are looking forward to experiencing a greater depth of personal growth over the next few years in ministry to men.

Missions Ministry Team

I finally was able to propose a renewed vision & strategy for our Missions Ministry. Since then God has begun revealing the potential of new partnership in national and global missions.

We have begun partnering with Student Life (Campus Crusade AU’s) ministry to University students here in Perth. Without any SL staff on this side of the country, God has risen up a few students from our church to be the forerunners to this ministry among the 70,000 students. May God expand His kingdom from the labour of a few faithful students.

We have also identified a potential missionary couple to the indigenous people (Aboriginal) of AU. Lori & I were attending a denominational missions meeting to represent our church family. I saw a prayer card of a missionary couple who have recently returned to AU to carry the message of Christ to this aboriginal community. We recently shared our similar visions for the people of AU & were thrilled to discover they are known to some here and they too have adopted children. We are anticipating a meeting in December to move our partnership into action for the Lord.

We continue to keep our eyes open for opportunities to reach Muslims for Jesus in Indonesia even though God may have provided a local couple to complete that aim as well. This does seem to be a possible "crazy story of God" so we will let you know more if it develops into a partnership.

And how about this; as I proposed we bolster our Short Term Missions experiences, this past month we have been invited to partner in STM in South Africa & Zimbabwe more strategically. Hmmm. Seems God wants us to share our faith beyond our local community!

Unexpected Travel to the USA

Matthew flew to the USA on Oct 12th to visit his mother (Norma) in Placerville, CA. Norma battles with Lupus and has been struggling these past few weeks.

God's timing is always perfect in that Lori's mom and stepdad are in here in Australia visiting unil Nov. 9th. So, they are helping with the children during this time while Matthew is away until Oct 29th.

Please pray for healing for Norma and for Matthew to have a sweet time of fellowship with his family and for travel safety on the way back!

5 Months of Nothing?

Just pulled up our blog and see May was our last entry. Has nothing happened during that time? LOTS has been going on and this week Matthew will pen our ministry happenings these last months along with Praises & Prayer request. Thank you for waiting so patiently for word of what GOD is doing in our lives here in Australia.

Our Auntie Bev

Thank you all who prayed for our Auntie Bev. Last week she went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Tomorrow (Thurs) at 1pm is her memorial service.

Please pray for our family as the children will be attending their first funeral. The children are clear about the fact that Auntie Bev is in Heaven and healthy and praising Jesus. We are so happy for her but are sad in our hearts because we will miss her dearly! Here is a photo we took with Auntie Bev just before her health started to deteriorate. We cherish our memories and look forward to the day we see her in Heaven!

USA 2011?

We are still hoping for a visit to the US in May/June of 2011. We feel it is important to see you again. Mikah has lived in AU longer than in the US. Their US memories are fading & we wish to remind them of many important people in their lives as well as to give thanks to so many. Please pray we are good stewards of God’s resources as we have many outlays with schooling, immigration, and a remaining plan to fix our house with at least another bedroom.

We have developed wonderful friends here & Matthew enjoys the growing transparency, trust and partnership of the pastoral team. We are nearly certain he will be asked before August to sign a new 3-4 year contract to remain at the church. For those of you who have supported us over the years, you have blessed us greatly. Your partnership has made it possible.

Waiting Waiting Waiting

February 09 we applied to renew our temporary visa & received a temporary temporary visa until our permanent temporary (PT) visa arrived. Sometime later, we were notified we were in the country illegally, because they gave us the wrong temporary temporary. So, we started again & realized I could apply for a permanent resident (PR) visa so I asked the case worker & we did what we were told. July came & still no proper visa. I then discovered we did not have a PR application submitted but only an application for a temporary. So we started again for a PR & then amazingly & finally received our PT. We were told it would not be very long to receive a PR Visa. I asked how long is not too long? 5-7 months! After 8 months we were making calls and then received an apology that we “fell through the cracks” because I am not the Sr. Pastor & don’t pay enough taxes!

Well we answered these questions and now I pay more taxes! The promise I would have the PR Visa immediately upon immigration receiving the new contract apparently meant : I need to complete more work on our application, with finger prints, FBI check, character checks, renew my passport & redo Lori’s medical check up and x-rays, because they took long to process our application & these items expired. And by the way we need all our kids examined not by our GP for $60 each but by their GP for $183 each! Can you believe this is the short version of the story?

So, the good news we were hoping to pass on to everyone 5-8 months ago is still in process. Prayerfully, by Monday we will have everything in the mail and the final wait will be on.

Anyone want to get married in Australia?

This week Matthew received a surprise letter. He has been officially authorized as a Marriage Celebrant in Australia. Thus, he can now perform weddings. Crazy thing is even though he had his application filed, he had not taken the test! He called & told them but it’s a done deal.

Ministry Updates:

Our Men’s Fellowship has been reborn! After several years of up & down events & stalling out at men’s breakfasts, Matthew asked three men to join him on a Men’s ministry team. They put a few events on the calendar & saw an immediate response. The Sunday afternoon Men’s Cricket Match in April was a big hit with over 24 men playing. People enjoyed watching the American stand baseball style & smash a few long balls before he “flied out”. He also threw some wicked “bowls” (pitches like drop balls).

This past weekend was the fathers, sons & mates Overnight fishing trip in the dunes. The thunderstorms held off & those who attended had a great time.

In a few weeks, the men will enjoy a Sunday afternoon Golf Day for "hackers & golfers". We already have plenty of men signed up. Matthew is inviting Robbie & Mark our two neighbors that are married to Lori’s friends, Karena and Maryanne. Please pray for these two couples to come to faith in Jesus through our friendship.

Our Women’s ministry is running full steam ahead. With Lori & Shirley bringing a clear focus & ministry team approach to the group we are experiencing a lot of excitement, spiritual growth, & participation. Coffee & Chat Nights are held every 4th Monday of the month. This gives women opportunities to bring friends cultivate deeper relationships. This year we added a theme to each night. Next Monday is "Making a House a Home" hosted by an interior decorator. Lori is now planning the W.O.W Retreat for the Sept. 17th weekend. Denise Glenn from www.motherwise.org will be our speaker. Her talks will be based on her book: "Restore My Heart"- God's Passionate Love for His Bride. Last year, Lori prayed for 60 ladies to attend & God provided 60! This year please join Lori in praying for 75 women to attend. Women will have an opportunity to come to faith in Christ there too.

Matthew has proposed a new Vision & Strategy for Missions. He has one for National Missions (Australia) & one for Global Missions. Because there are 80,000 university students in Perth with very little efforts to reach them, he has proposed we partner with Campus Crusade for Christ Australia to establish a ministry here in Perth with some of our University students. Please pray we see movement on this by early June. He has already planting the seeds for STM opportunities in Thailand, sharing the life of Christ at youth camps with Buddhist young people! Harvest time in Thailand!

With Global Missions the proposal includes partnering with a ministry to reach the unreached of Indonesia.

God is Adding! Matthew continues to preach on average twice every five weeks. On Easter Sunday he gave an alter call! This is not an Aussie custom, but many people came forward in the 1st service and after the 2^nd service a man who has been prayed for years, came forward. Praise the Lord!

We are seeing some people come to Christ Jesus; Adults & Teenagers. We are experiencing Addition with anticipation for Multiplication after some more equipping of the saints. This Sunday Matthew challenged each believer to commit to praying for God to use them to reach three specific unchurched peers. After the service, a young man responsible for an Annual Sports weekend for hundreds of young adults, asked to meet with Matthew THIS WEEK to discuss how he can make it clearly evangelistic. This is an answer to pray as Matthew has encouraged them to do so for three years now! PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS MEETING TO BE GOD ORDAINED.

Health, Kids & Schooling

In late April, Lori had her gallbladder removed. Doctor said about 150 stones! Recovery was for a week and Matthew stayed home to take care of his Queen. She has recovered and is back into the routine of things! (see photo of her stones!)

Kids are healthy. Maxwell is playing Footy. He is making sand jumps (not much dirt around) for his bike and the girls dance after school at church for $4 a lesson. We hope the girls will use it to invite their unchurched girlfriends.

Regarding schooling: It is clear we will not receive the educational assistance necessary in the public school (for special ed) & not in any Christian/ private school either. We will be checking out a Steiner school next week. An extra 10-15 minute drive to school and a big tuition bill, but we will trust the Lord to work this out too. This school approaches learning in a non-traditional format and we think it may be a better fit for our children with their needs. ( If there are any teachers that want to do a missions trip and homeschool our children, we are open to the idea!)

Christ the Lord has risen today, Hallelujah.

We had Communion Service on Thurs. evening, Good Friday services in the morning and

Ressurrection Sunday services today! Matthew preached the Good News of Jesus Christ and

gave the opportunity for an alter call. Two people became new believers and 21 people recommitted their lives to Christ. What better day than today to have a relationship with our Lord who gave so sacrificially and took our sins upon himself on Calvary. Thank you Jesus!

Our Auntie Bev

Auntie Bev (Bev Lunt) is very near and dear to our hearts as she is the one who found our rental property for us before we arrived in AU and took us under her wings when we arrived. She has also been adopted by our family as a surrogate “Auntie/Grandma” to us. We love her and are sadden to learn she has terminal cancer. She had bowel cancer a year ago and this past August we thought she was cancer free. Well, in Nov, she was told her cancer came back into her liver. The cancer is in 75% of her liver and is terminal. It is very progressive and the prognosis is 2-3 months but she is doing chemo to extend her time maybe another 3-6 more. She is at peace with the idea of meeting Jesus sooner than she anticipated. She is cleaning “house” and spending precious time with family and friends. Please remember her in your prayers and our family as the children do not know yet about Auntie Bev’s illness. In Nov., Lori took 25 family portraits over the course of 2 weekends. This was done as a fundraiser for our church building project. People are thrilled with her work and this hobby seems to be turning into a business from word of mouth! Lori is excited about this business opportunity as our youngest, Mikah, will start school full-time this year AND we are saving $$$ for a much anticipated visit to the USA in Spring of 2011! Community Care Seminars

We saw 58 people attend the "Why You Need a Will" Seminar. Many whom I did not know and where from the neighbourhood. The speaker was amazed as he usually has 6-8 people! We are following up on those from the community who are interested in a personal money management help. Which brings us to...

$ Ministry Growth

We are thrilled to have 11 people respond to our goal to begin a Financial Management Ministry. This is in response to a community questionaire we handed out earlier in the year. Our strategy includes 3 sermons, a community seminar, mentorship for personal budgeting, small groups and a ministry for running a Business by the Book. Please pray for God’s point person for this ministry to respond by early January.

Blessings Thru Refugees

God has provided our church family with people from many different countries including Liberians. Lori has become a key point person to help assimilate them into the Australia culture thru meeting basic needs: furniture, clothes, toys, food and most important friendship. Laughter and joy is a regular part of this ministry. Please pray we are sensitive to God’s ways as we mix our lives together for Him.

Going Global

Several months ago, our mission committee ceased & I took the responsibility to redevelop a new mission ministry strategy for our church family. The aim is to involve our lives to reach the Unreached, remember the Persecuted, and assist in reaping the Responsive. National pastors, church planting, short term teams and university ministries are key elements to the proposal. Please pray our leaders are unified in our global vision to bring God glory & we are able to move forward in late January with the plans.

3 x 3 Basketball Outreach

January 23rd will be our third tournament. We now have unchurched people volunteering to help us run the event & outside groups wanting to sponsor the community event. We will also support a local basket ball league with some of the profits. What? The church giving money away to a non Christian program? Please pray for Blair (our church Chaplain) as he leads the way for us in this community outreach, the gospel seed is planted as we have more unchurched people attend than churched.

Personal Evangelism

Praise the Lord we completed training of a 2^nd group of people in XEE (personal evangelism). We are now looking into equipping all responsive people through small groups. We will see what happens in the months ahead.

The Awana Grand Prix Track is HERE!!!!

Lori's mom(Annette) arrived August 19th from Charlotte, NC with the track in tow plus all her luggage with extra goodies we asked her to bring. Let me tell you this was not an easy task.

First we ordered the track from the USA and shipped it to Annette to bring on the plane with her in order to save $1,000 to ship direct to AU.

Well, it arrived safely to her home but found out her domestic flight to LA. wouldn't allow it on the plane! So, she quickly sent it to LA to Matthew's cousin's house. His cousin was to take it to the LA airport in 4 days and meet Annette there to check it onto Quantas Airlines. Quantas Airlines checked it as oversized, extra luggage and we only had to pay an extra $50!

Eventually, Annette arrived in Sydney. She still needed to get onto another plane to go to Perth. In Sydney, she needed to get off the plane, get all her luggage and go through customs. Not a major deal...she just got a trolley for all her lugguage and this oversized box and made it through customs...now the tricky part...She needed to take all of her luggage upstairs to take a train to the domestic side of the airport for her last flight.

Well, this oversized box wasn't easy to get into the elevator! Stuggling to get this all into the elevator, GOD sent her an angel. A woman saw Annette's plight and urged her husband to "help the lady"! He did. Not only did he help her get onto the elevator, he carried this box to the train and he and his wife got on the train with Annette and took the box all the way to where it needed to be checked onto the flight. This couple had a several hour wait for their next flight. Annette was so thankful and told them they were angels sent from God. The couple didn't know how to respond to that comment and smiled and went on their way.

Annette arrived in Perth 4 + hours later and the track arrived in one piece!

Why go through all this trouble just for a track you ask? Well, our Awana Grand Prix track was an old wooden track in need of repairs. The Grand Prix Races is one of our biggest outreaches and more than half of those that go to Awana do not attend our church or are unchurched. These new tracks were not available in Australia so we had to order from the USA. There was much anticipation and excitement from our Awana kids & leaders knowing a fast,cool, new track was on it's way. We were also humbled and thankful to have a church in the USA love us enough to raise funds during their VBS program in the summer to help us purchase this track. SO, THANK YOU Grace Church of Normal, Illinois. We love you and miss you!

WBC Women's Retreat

Our ladies ministry is called WOW ( Women of Worth). On Aug 21st weekend, WOW had their 1st annual weekend retreat. I say 1st because no one can remember when the last retreat was held but do remember hearing there was one years ago?

I found the perfect place to have this weekend. It was at Orchard Glory Farm Resort in Bindoon, WA. You can look it up on the web to see photos. It was beautiful and the ladies felt pampered to stay in such nice/clean facilities.

Some of us during free time Sat. afternoon took a 1/2 ride north to a little town called New Norcia. It has a monestary with 5 monks still living there. We took a tour of the town. You can google New Norcia in WA too to see and read about this historical town. The ride there was worth just viewing the canola fields in full bloom. I will post a photo!

I had the privilege to organize this retreat for 55 ladies. We had a wonderful speaker who challenged us to "Walk more intimately with God".

After reading over the survey's filled out at the end of the weekend, the comments were all positive. The ladies were blessed, refreshed & challenged and look forward to next year's retreat to be held late September. So, if anyone is interested in attending that retreat, start booking your flights soon!

Praise God for my neighbor, Marrianne, attending the weekend and 2 others that are not Christians. Seeds of God's Love for them were planted.

Also, my mom arrived 2 days prior to the weekend and I was blessed to have my mom share this special time with me.

G'day Family & Friends,

Thank you for being patient with our lack of updates. Here is a catch up with some Aussie speak too. These last 2 months have been full on & we have felt flat out with our Sr. Pastor Colin away for 3 months on his long service leave. My incoming phone calls & emails increased rapidly upon Colin's departure. It was a heavy but worthwhile experience to juggle a lot of Colin's responsibilities too. Because we asked for specific prayer last time, we think it is important for us to share the results.

We were pleasantly surprised with how our After-school program at a local primary school ended. Some of the more difficult kids also responded to us with pleas to return next term. God touched our hearts for these kids who spend way too much time in day cares & not nearly enough with mums & dads.

Thank you for praying for our second 3x3 Teen Basketball Tournament. At least 75% of players were unchurched! A professional Basketball player also attended to sign autographs & let us quawk at his 214cm frame (7' 1") as he swooshed his shots, after eating a trough of Sausage Sizzels (Aussie hot dogs).

The all day Oz Family Life Marriage Seminar @ our church had 24 couples attend. It was so good to "tune up" the marriage. I needed to be reminded often how to keep the fire going & the ears open! A secret for all my fellow blokes; keep the ears open & the fire can burn quite a bit longer between tune ups.

Listen to this: Grace Church in Normal ran an Aussie themed VBS program in late June. We were thrilled to hear they chose our Awana children's ministry as their mission to support through the VBS giving. We split the cost of a new Grand Prix Derby Race Track. Our kids will be jumping like roos when it arrives this next week. Prayer Request: We are seeking to get it on the airplane at LAX with Lori's mom this Monday Night & that it also arrives safely with her on Wednesday morning.

What about our AU VISA? Long story short! We finally received another 2 yr. Temporary Workers Visa. But due to my caseworker's miscommunication we had to start all over with the Permanent Residency Visa. I mailed the completed application "packet" today with the US$2,116.09 fee! Good news is they said it will not take too long. I asked how long is not too long. She replied; 6-8 months! Aussie speak for "sometime in the distant future but no idea when"!

Did you pray for our friend YV to be pregnant? Well, she is now 14 weeks pregnant! And our friend AW is attending church & working towards healing psychologically.

Ministry to Neighbours? Lori established a beautiful friendship with our neighbor, Marianne, & also joined a workout gym with her for 3 months. She will be attending the Women's Retreat next weekend. Please pray for Marianne to respond positively to the love of Christ Jesus.

Lori organized this Women's Retreat. 54 ladies Christians & non, will be attending the 3 day retreat. Extra special is Lori's mom will also be attending, while I will lead the 5 Munnsters thru the weekend without mum. Anyone interested in coming out to help me?

Lori's hobby of photography continues to bless people as she recently photographed 15 families on a Saturday afternoon to raise money for our church building fund. The results have been very positive, so this may be a good start for her business to grow.

Lori started a Bible study group on Wed. mornings about 1 yr ago with 8 ladies. Last term they split the group of 14 into 2 groups & next term Lori expects her group to begin with 11 ladies. How exciting is this? One of the ladies planning to come has been on the pray list for salvation!

Matthew is now the Small Group Teacher for his Tuesday night group. Our church Missions Ministry may also come under his oversight in the next several months. It needs to be overhauled for effective Sending & Discipleship purposes.

In two weeks, we are also providing a community care professional seminar; Why you need a will & other estate issues. Please pray this is a big hit for the Lord, as this has the potential to open many doors to the lives of people in our community with the church's ability to help meet both basic & spiritual needs.

Next time, I will share about our follow up plans & the event we are helping to plan to reach hundreds of people at one time just before Christmas!

Well, this is a bit long, but as you can see God is working in tremendous ways & we are trying to hold on & keep up! Thank you for praying, giving and encouraging.

We Need The Power Of God Unleashed Here!

1. Matthew is used of God as the main preacher until the beginning of Aug. & he balances ministry & home life well.

2. Outreach: The 50 kids at the Public School After School Program experience God's love through us.

3. Outreach: 3x3 Teen Basketball Tournament July 11th for players to be 75% unchurched.

After church, walking to our car, this is the amazing sky God gave us! I happened to have my camera with me that morning. How artistic is our Creator! I think it is the most beautiful painting I have ever seen!

The photo above this one is the sunset he gave us the very next night on the twins' birthday. They were so excited to see this sky that they urged me to photograph it! The sun is much hotter here and because of that, I think it makes the sunsets more colorful and fiery! Amazing!

After watching the Easter Musical this Friday morning at church, our children knew exactly why we were thanking Jesus! It was a special time to go around the table and say what we wanted to "thank" Jesus for...and Mikah was the first to say "For dying on the cross for our sins". BINGO! We are so thankful as parents that our children are beginning to understand the real meaning of Easter.

Well, here it is..the update to our "Easter Funtastic" outreach. A big thank you to those who prayed for us. The Lord answered in a mighty way! It was a beautiful sunny day with over 300 people in attendance. Praise the Lord! The majority of people were not from our church. It was exciting to see invited school friends & neighbors too. It was a fun filled 1 1/2 hours.

We started with facepainting & balloon animals then added a "Lollieman" chase (see the photos), followed by a juggling act, fun sing-a-longs, a ventriloquist who shared the story of the three trees, a massive candy filled egg hunt & water balloon games. In between these events, the kids enjoyed more face painting, balloon animals & cooled off with free icy poles. Adult (guest) door prizes (chocolate!) were also a big hit. To be in the drawing, adults filled out an interest questionnaire. They were asked to tick any of the listed topics they would like to know more about. Some of the topics of interest: How to find the right church for my family; How to forgive & receive forgiveness from others; Activities for single parents; Basic computer skills; How to relate to my teenager.... Matthew is now trying to fast track some of these needs with the right church people connection & a few workshops in the new future that can also meet these needs. 9:30-11:30 AM Saturday morning, April 4th (your Friday night), is our Easter Funtastic Outreach. This is a free event put on by our church and being held at the local public school!

Please pray:

1. Hundreds of unchurched people will attend

2. The Story of Easter will be clear

3. A Funtastic time will be had by all

4. God will be glorified all over the place.

Three local public elementary schools have passed out our fliers to almost a thousand children. This event will have jugglers, face painters, balloon animals, circus tricks, a Ventriloquist sharing the Story of Easter and a lot more. The weather is too be 82 degrees! We will also be inviting people to our Easter services.

Wilson gets Baptized...

March 29th was a very exciting time at church. We had 9 people get baptized this Sunday! Praise the Lord. Listening to their testimonies was so encouraging.

One of those people who got baptized was Wilson. He is the man we asked you to pray for about being discipled. He recently moved to Australia from Brazil with his wife and young child. After visiting our church one Sunday, He and his wife accepted Christ as their personal Savior.

Well, he was the last to get baptized that day. He gave his testimony about how life had been good for him...easy...no worries...and how prideful he was because of his success in work, athletics & other things. He thanked the Lord for breaking down the wall of pride in his life and showing him his sin and his need for a Savior. He was in tears and so were most of us listening to him... very moving. Well, here is a photo of Wilson. The joy on his face when he comes out of the water says it all! ( that is his little boy, Daniel, behind him watching and holding his towel for him)

Lori's Dad visits Australia!

Lori's dad arrived in Sydney, Australia Feb 6th. Just in time for their big heat wave (over 1oo degrees). He traveled around Sydney, to Hobart (Tasmania) and arrived in Perth, Feb 11th. It was a very exciting time for the children to see their "Pop Pop" since we haven't seen him for 2 years. We celebrated his birthday and Lori guided him around the Perth area during the days while the kids were in school. We look forward to Pop Pop coming back to visit again soon!!!

First Day of School

Feb. 3rd was the first day of the school year for Western Australia. The public school children all wear school uniforms. The kids were so excited for school to start and to wear their new sneakers! This was officially Mikah's first day in public school, too! She is in the Kindy program 2 full days a week.

Our Family Vacation to Albany...

Matthew had a week's vacation Jan 5th - 12th. We were invited by friends in church to rent a cabin at the Baptist Camp Grounds in Albany (approx. 5 1/2 hrs. south). There were six other families with children from our church that joined us. It was a great time. Our children freely ran around the camp grounds with their friends. For the parents, it was a relief not to wonder where our kids were all the time or worry about their safety. We fished, swam in the ocean (most days), collected shells, played games, read several books! and relaxed. It was a refreshing time. Hope you enjoy our photos.

On January 24, we inaugurated our renovated parking lot basketball courts with an outreach. We planned a competitive tournament of basketball. 48 of the 66 young people playing were not church kids. The weather was hot, the games were fun, the food was inexpensive, the music was loud, the gospel seed of John 14:6 was planted & connections to our community were developed. We have been encouraged by the unchurched to do it again. Anyone for a game of B.Ball?

"I Have Never Spoken about God"

On Carol’s Night, I spoke for about 5 minutes on how as a child I had a decent understanding that Christmas was about Jesus being born, but after my family left the church my understanding of the true meaning of Christmas become muddled with the extras of Christmas; presents, Santa, and so forth. Then as a teenager my life was all about me, until God got a hold of me at age 18. My first Christmas as a follower of Jesus was exciting and fresh. Even what was considered traditional had special meaning to me. One song in particular had a few verses that I have remembered for years. O’ Holy Night: Fall on your knees, Hear the angels voices”. I then shared the story in Luke 2:8-15. The angels knew this was about the glory of God and the Shepherds responded. The intent of the birth of Jesus Christ was to manifest the glory of God throughout the earth to all men, women, boys and girls who receive His favour. His favour is for you to come “fall on your knees and worship him”.

And then invited everyone to receive the peace of God by responding to His favour, for without this favour how can you really experience the true meaning and glory of Christmas?

I offered a gospel booklet to those interested in knowing how they could know God personally. The next day I realized most of the booklets were gone! My friend then told me one of his wife’s guest they thought was least likely to respond; looked at her that evening and said, I just realized for the first time; I have never spoken to my kids about God”! (Pray for Michelle's friend to share Jesus with her kids! The oldest child is 12 years old).

The Gospel Through Words & Candy

Carol’s Night is a traditional Aussie event. Unchurched Aussies are willing to come to this
Christmas type of service. It is a very joyous time for Carol singing, special musical items, a special event church choir, and a story time for kids. Well, usually for kids! The story this year was the making of the candy cane. After the story we had children pass around candy canes to everyone with a little note attached to each that shared the gospel meaning behind the candy cane. During the two services over 600 people heard the gospel message. One friend took extra candy canes and the story to give to her relatives coming for Christmas dinner. Here is the story if you have never heard it:
The Candy Cane Story
A candy maker in Indiana wanted to make a candy that would remind people of the true meaning of Christmas; so he made the candy cane to incorporate several symbols for the birth, ministry, and death of Jesus Christ. He began with a stick of pure white, hard candy. White to symbolize the Virgin Birth and the sinless nature of Jesus, and hard to symbolize the Solid Rock, the foundation of the Church, and the firmness of the promises of God.
The candy maker then shaped his cane into the form of a "J" to represent the precious name of Jesus, who came to the earth as Savior. It could also represent the staff of the "Good Shepherd" with which He reaches down to reclaim the fallen lambs who, like sheep, have gone astray.
Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the candy maker stained it with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of the scourging Jesus received. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that we could have the promise of eternal life.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day....

Our church offered a Christmas Eve service for the 1st time ever. The good news is it was as crowded as the Christmas morning service. Our family attended the Christmas Eve service. After we came out of the church we viewed the most beautiful sunset I've seen in a long time. It was as if God was reminding us of that bright star the first Christmas morning. It was 8:30 pm and here was this bright colorful sky, bright like that star that the guided the wisemen from afar...I am so thankful for those reminders that God gives us from time to time.

As the sun set, our family drove around the neighborhood to look at decorated houses. Some houses go beyond just the lights and decorate the inside of their garages/car ports, so you can walk through them and even touch/play with some of the decorations. Then, it was time to head home and open gifts from Nanny (Lori's mom) & Grandpa Ed. The kids were very excited. It ended up being a late night for the kids and they slept until 8:30 am!!! We opened the rest of our gifts when Matthew returned home from the Christmas morning service, ate lunch at a church family's home and relaxed the rest of the late afternoon/evening. Last year it was almost 100 degrees and this year we were delighted with the weather being in the 80's with a slight breeze.

Family Update

We are plugging along as we approach two years in Australia. We remain faithful to keeping up our history of medical emergencies. We are also feeling more acclimated to living here. We remain concerned with America’s changes, but I sense a growing distance as we try to endure our remaining difficulties with private health insurance & our disqualification for any special educational services because of our immigrant status. These difficulties have given us a wonderful perspective of why the USA is still the promise land for so many in this world. Please pray for Morgan & Mallory to receive Spec. Ed services that meet their needs.

We are actively waiting for the door to open to our family seeking permanent residency in Australia. As long as we are here, it is best to get our status changed. This should alleviate some of the financial & emotional difficulties with living here. I was told, “we are those who have taxation without representation”. We don’t like it! So please join us in asking God for the AU govt. to favour us & approve our status in March of 2009.

Irresistible Influence

God has opened up amazing doors for us to become a Church of Irresistible Influence in our community. In August, we organized a Bible School type after school program in two elementary schools. Nearly 100 unchurched kids attended & about 20 non-WBC families attended our Friday Awana/Family Night. We laughed, heard a clear gospel message & enjoyed delicious snacks afterwards.

I must say I feel overwhelmed often, as ministry has never been so full. Due to what God has been doing here, we are now working out the details to offer a Bible values based After-School program for children & parents next year ON THE SCHOOL PREMISSES! God is so great! Please join us in giving God thanks for His future work through this ministry.

One ministry opportunity we just started to publicize is a 3x3 Street Ball Tournament January 24^th. Please ask God to feel the teams. We are thrilled many of our church students have already caught the idea of inviting unchurched kids to play on a team. For a church to organize this type of event is counter-cultural! We are very excited to see what God will do!

His Light Shines Thru Death

Our community has been rocked hard. Our church has a good relationship with the high school across the street. We are in the school several times a week serving them & they often use our building. Four weeks ago a 17-year-old boy was senselessly murdered a few blocks from the church. This has deeply hurt our community & confused our schools. We are now actively engaged in conversations with the schools & local politicians about helping to provide resources, seminars, & counselling to the youth culture & local families to help transform our community. Please pray we shine the light of Christ brightly in our hurting & lost community.

Christmas Community Outreach

We will be hand delivering specially designed Christmas service invitations to over 3500 homes in and around our church.

Culturally, Australians attend church on Christmas morning with unchurched family members. We are offering for the first time a Christmas Eve service, as well as, our regular Christmas morning service. Would you please pray for us as we seek to minister to our community during this time? Aussies typically have very hard hearts towards the Bible & God but are accustomed to showing up around Christmas & Easter. I will be preaching both Sundays the 21^st & the 28^th.

Our church family continues to grow in attendance as many new people are coming & many are new immigrants. Very exciting to not have every one “cut from the same piece of cloth”. The differences add challenges, creativity, a sense of freshness & many expressions of grace.

As the Pastor for Evangelism and Discipleship, I am encouraged to witness numerical & spiritual growth in our Small Groups be they mid-week ladies or weekly night time Home Groups. A growing number of people are committing to a small group leadership team for the first time & others are joyfully involved in ministry where they never thought they would be.

Thanksgiving Celebration

Saturday, November 29th, we celebrated Thanksgiving with 22 adults and 22 children at our home! It was a beautiful sunny day and the festivities began at 4pm and ended at 10:30pm.

For 1/2 of the families, this was their first Thanksgiving celebration. Many had never had pumpkin pie, ambrosia, corn casserole, green bean casserole and never ever cooked a turkey that big! It is hard to find big turkey's here in Australia and they aren't cheap. It was definitely a festive time. The kids had so much fun with each other swimming and playing. Towards the end of the night there were fireworks we viewed from our neighbor's porch that the local fairgrounds put on. How fun to have that as an end to our celebration! We are so Thankful for all that God provided for us that day. Wish you were all there with us.
